Kristin Eggleston, LM, CPM
Kristin started her path to midwifery with the homebirth of her son in 2002. Her own birth experience was the impetus that linked her previous interest in medicine and anthropology with her new interest in natural health and parenting.
She started Sunrise Midwifery in March 2009 after completing all the requirements to become a Licensed Midwife (LM) in Washington State and a Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) nationally. In obtaining her LM and CPM certifications, Kristin graduated from a three year, intensive midwifery education that included both classwork and clinical experience, as well as attending births in homes, birth centers, and hospitals in Washington, Idaho, and Texas. She currently works with the Midwives’ Association of Washington State and many local entities to improve birth in Washington State.
In addition, Kristin has published multiple articles about midwifery and continues her education in the field.
She now lives with her husband and their busy, blended family in Prosser. Kristin’s two children have been born at home with midwives.
Curriculum Vitae available upon request
Katie is joining our team as a highly competent postpartum doula, specializing in breastfeeding care and gentle support of mothers and families. She came to her work as a doula through a pregnancy of her own and hearing how her mother was discouraged from breastfeeding.
Katie has additional training and experience with hospitals and clinics in Yakima. She is also our “Tub Lady” in Yakima and surrounding areas: it will be Katie delivering and picking up birthing tubs to both our midwifery clients and to expectant mothers who are birthing in the hospital and would like to spend some of early labor in a tub.
She will provide ONE FREE hour of postpartum doula care to midwifery clients and hospital-birthing mothers as part of the tub rental. She can provide additional doula care as desired.
At Sunrise Midwifery, we are committed to training new midwives so that more families have access to quality, personalized, and safe maternity care. We value the training of excellent midwives and have committed to having midwifery students participate in our midwifery practice.
Midwifery students are acutely aware of the service you provide them by allowing them to be present with you during pregnancy and birth. As the client, you have the right to decline the attendance of the student during your care. Becoming a midwife is a difficult process, and our midwifery students appreciate your willingness to let them be part of this journey with you!
